Untitled Sepia

Date unknown, 36x24
I remember being fascinated by this painting when I first saw it as a teenager. I didn't know what sepia was at the time and the notion of a painting in variations of one color (brown) seemed avant-garde! In dim light, the painting looks almost like a flat brown rectangle. But under light, the flowers and background curtain emerge as a ghostly image.
